Live your life so that when you get old you won't look back and say I wonder what would have happened if… ~Norman Yock

Wish me a Happy Anniversary

This month marks 29 years of Comp-U-Talk. And if you are wondering who is Norman Yock (from the quote above), Norman was my mentor, the man who encouraged me to try, the man who kicked me into action with the words: "If you don't try, you will always wonder if you could have made it."

I think I have my answer. I can make it. For richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, through sickness and through health, I have made it. Thank you Norman for kicking me into action! It has been an amazing journey.

I started 29 years ago programming accounting systems. The Personal Computer had just been introduced. Quickbooks did not exist. I had a degree in Accounting & Finance and a fascination for computer programming. Could there be a better pairing? I think not!

Over the years I have added a spouse, employees, kids and a variety of services. As a company we have added computer sales and repairs, networking, training, internet services. We have successfully morphed as the industry has morphed. We are expecting to continue the trend.

With that in mind, we are considering setting up the classroom again. We are wondering what kind of classes you might be interested in. We suspect Windows 8 might be a popular topic. Would you be interested in navigating the latest version of Word or Excel? How about any of the social media avenues like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or posting videos to YouTube? Would you prefer to participate in a class using a formal classroom setting, or would you prefer to take a class online via the internet? Drop me an email and let me know if you are interested in any of the above or in something else. I am most easily reached at: janet@comp-u-talk.com.

If you haven't made a resolution for the new year, then I urge you to follow Norman's advice: Live this year without regrets. I can tell you first hand, it won't always be easy, it won't always be fun. It is still the best advice I have ever received. Thank you Norman. I miss you!

Years ago, my daughter brought home an art project from school. It sits on my dresser and encourages me daily. It says:

Be strong and brave and wait for the Lord's help. Psalm 27:14
